World Surfing Competition
The first World Surfing Championships were held in Manley, Australia in 1962, and competitions were held every two years thereafter. In the competition, the score is based on the 20 point scoring system of the surfer's ability to hit 3 waves within 30 minutes or 6 waves within 45 minutes. The score is then based on the surfer's starting, turning, sliding distance, and difficulty in selecting waves.
